Who We Are

The Center for Participatory Change (CPC) is a dynamic organization led by women of color, dedicated to serving and empowering immigrants, queer individuals, Black communities, Latinx populations, and Indigenous people in Western North Carolina.

Since its establishment in 1999, CPC has been at the forefront of supporting the capacity of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to effectively build, grow, and sustain movements for social justice and collective liberation. Through our unwavering commitment, we strive to foster a more inclusive and equitable society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to positive change.

Our Mission

To ignite collective power, transform systems of oppression, and heal the community towards collective liberation, la liberación del pueblo.

Our Role

To work alongside structurally excluded community members to heal from systems of oppression, analyze unjust policies and systems, and ignite collective action for systemic change.

Employing popular education tools, we facilitate collective learning processes, allowing communities to identify shared truths, cultivate relationships, and unite in solidarity to challenge unjust systems. Our profound commitment lies in dismantling systems of oppression and constructing innovative models for collective liberation. These models are thoughtfully informed by the lived experiences of those in racialized and gendered bodies, ensuring a more inclusive and just future.
