In 2017, the Popular Education Circle continued the development of Seeds of Hope/Semillas de Esperanza. Seeds of Hope Popular Educators were trained in popular education methodology, language justice, racial equity, youth development, youth theater, CPR/First Aid and more.
We collaborated with nearly twenty local and regional organizations to provide youth programming to compliment their social justice events. Popular educators worked with youth to set up safe and supportive spaces, explore lived experience through hands-on activities and build collective knowledge to analyze and shift our communities toward justice.
Through these revolutionary youth spaces, we provided young people opportunity to reflect on the past, contextualize the present and feel empowered as change agents for the future. Over the course of the year in Seeds of Hope spaces, we saw youth develop great enthusiasm and appreciation for community, identity building, voice and movement.
