Latino Advocacy Coalition - LAC (Henderson County), Matching Grant

With a team of volunteers and staff LAC hosted the 12th Annual Children’s Day Festival and Business Expo in partnership with Mountain BizWorks.  The day celebrated the importance of children through a unique, community-building event.  Funds raised through this event, and matched by the SDF, provided LAC with general support, enabling their organization to support the Latino population in Henderson County by helping individuals strive to meet their fullest potential while allocating against unjust systems.

Centro de Enlace (Yancey County), Matching Grant

The SDF provided a Matching Grant to Centro de Enlace for their LaTeena Health Team.  Through tamale sales, a health booth, and local sponsorships, volunteers and team members raised funds matched by the SDF.  The team focuses on self-health through health awareness, exercise, and cooking classes and is partnering with local organizations to promote healthy lifestyles in the larger Latino community
